Turn "how many items" into "how many stacks plus a remainder": 65 items at a cap of 64 is 1 stack + 1 item. It also works out how many shulker boxes (27 stacks) or large chests (54 stacks) are needed to hold everything. The cap is an explicit option — buckets and ender pearls stack to 16, tools, armour and potions to 1, and using 64 for those gives a wrong remainder.

Features

  • Total items into full stacks plus a remainder
  • Stack size 64, 16 or 1
  • Shulker boxes at 27 stacks, large chests at 54
  • Container count is the minimum that fits everything (rounded up)
  • A remainder of zero is still written out as "0 items"
  • Several counts at once, one per line

How to use

  1. Pick the stack size (64 for most items)
  2. Type one item count per line
  3. Read the full stacks, remainder and containers needed
  4. Untick the boxes to drop the shulker or chest rows

FAQ

Why is 65 "1 stack + 1 item" and not "2 stacks"?
Because the stack count is floored and the remainder is `total % cap`: `65 ÷ 64 = 1` remainder `1`. When it divides evenly the remainder is 0 (64 items is 1 stack + 0 items) and it does not round up to 2.
Which items do not stack to 64?
16: snowballs, eggs, ender pearls, signs, and anything in a bucket. 1: tools, armour, potions, enchanted books and other non-stackable items. The wrong cap gives a wrong remainder that still looks perfectly normal.
How much do shulker boxes and chests hold?
A shulker box has 27 slots, so 27 stacks; a large chest has 54, so 54 stacks. The count here is the smallest number that holds everything (rounded up), not how many you would fill.
