Split a PDF and Extract Pages

PDF · up to 100 MB per file

Two ways to split, matching two real needs. Extract: pick some pages into a new file — the attachment pages out of a contract, the references out of a paper, the receipts out of a monthly bundle — in exactly the order you write (typing `3,1,2` really gives pages 3, 1, 2). Split: cut the file into one document per N pages, which is how you separate a scan that came out as ten invoices in one PDF (set N to 1). Output names carry the page range (`invoices-p3-4.pdf`) rather than a sequence number — split files get sent to other people, and the name should tell them which part of the whole they are holding. Everything runs locally.

Features

  • Two modes: extract pages into one file, or split every N pages
  • Range syntax: 1-3, 5, 3- (to the end), -3 (from the start), odd / even
  • Full-width digits and Chinese commas are accepted too (pasting from Word gives you those)
  • A page beyond the document reports an error instead of silently dropping a page
  • Output names carry the page range, so a forwarded file still makes sense
  • Page order follows what you type, so pages can be reordered (3,1,2)
  • Nothing is uploaded and no server is involved

How to use

  1. Drop a PDF in
  2. Choose Extract and give a page range, or Split and give the pages per file
  3. All results appear at once — download individually or all together
  4. Download what you need

FAQ

How do I write the page range?
`1-3` is pages 1 to 3; `5` is page 5; `3-` is page 3 to the end; `-3` is pages 1 to 3; mix them with commas, as in `1-3,5,8-`. You can also write `odd` or `even`. Full-width digits and Chinese punctuation are accepted, since ranges copied out of Word or a web page often arrive that way. Asking for a page that does not exist reports an error and tells you how many pages the document has, rather than quietly skipping it.
Are the extracted pages reordered by page number?
No — they follow exactly what you typed. `3,1,2` gives page 3, then 1, then 2. That is deliberate: "move this page to the front" is a common reason to extract at all, and auto-sorting would make it impossible. For ascending order, just write `1-3`.
Will splitting into dozens of files be slow?
It depends on page count and size: each output copies its pages and the resources they need into a new PDF, so splitting a 200-page scan into single pages takes a few seconds to a dozen, during which the page looks idle (the status line shows "Processing…"). If you only need a few pages, Extract is far faster than splitting everything and picking afterwards.
Are the files uploaded?
No. Splitting runs through pdf-lib in the browser's memory with no network requests, and it keeps working offline.
