The percentage is counted in whole days, not years — counting years drifts by a day around leap years. On your birthday the countdown reads “today” rather than a puzzling 365. Everything runs on your device; the date never leaves the page.

FAQ

Why is the percentage not “age ÷ lifespan”?
Because that drifts by a day around leap years. Your age in whole years is an integer, but years are 365 or 366 days, so a year-based numerator jumps on certain dates. Days lived over total days is monotonic and continuous, which is what a progress bar should express.
It is my birthday today — why does it say 0 days / today?
Because today is that milestone. The tool first works out this year’s birthday; if it is today it returns 0, and only advances to next year once it has passed. Saying 365 would make people think the tool is broken.
Is my birth date uploaded?
No. Every calculation happens in your browser and no request carries your input anywhere. A date of birth is one of the last things you should hand to a third party.
